Investor Relations
"The sad truth is that there are only three types of financial prognosticators: Those who don't know, those who don't know they don't know, and those who don't know but get paid big bucks to pretend they know."
--Burton Malkiel, A Random Walk Down Wall Street

Investor Relations is the marketing function that integrates all aspects of communicating with institutional and individual investors using direct contacts, printed materials and electronic tools, the financial news media, and targeting methods to identify potential investors.
Built into that definition is an assumption that IROs (Investor Relations Officers) and CFOs listen continuously to their managements, boards of directors and, especially their shareholders to make changes in their communications whenever they are not communicating effectively or there is some gap in the perception of the stakeholders and management.
